Hydration
Who is this course for?
Hydration is one of the fastest and most effective ways to enhance athletic performance. However, improper hydration can lead to failure or even serious health emergencies. This course introduces the foundations of athlete hydration protocols.
We recommend it for all professionals working in sports, both elite and amateur, who want to gain a deeper understanding of the specific physiological effects of dehydration and its potential for laboratory assessment.
Highly recommended for dietitians, sports dietitians, sports physicians, coaches, and athletes.
Course Overview
This course explores the mechanisms of heat dissipation during muscular activity, the regulation of sweat production, and the functioning of the body’s water balance.
We take a detailed look at the cardiovascular, neurological, and hormonal effects of dehydration. A dedicated chapter covers the sports physiology consequences of both mild and severe dehydration, along with effective rehydration strategies.

Máté pursued his studies at the Faculty of Science of Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) in Budapest. He earned his first degree in 2005 from the Department of General Physics and completed a second degree in 2011 at the Department of Physiology and Neurobiology within the Institute of Biology. In 2021, he obtained a diploma in Sports Nutrition Science from the International Olympic Committee.
As the Scientific Director of the Sports and Preventive Diagnostics Division at SYNLAB, his role involves identifying diagnostic and intervention opportunities and establishing best professional practices. Together with his expert team, he has supported the preparation of athletes in more than 40 Olympic sports across three Olympic cycles. Through his extensive work with hundreds of Olympians, the development of numerous sports nutrition and diagnostics protocols, engagement in sports physiology research, and delivery of hundreds of professional lectures, Máté was elected in 2023 as a member of the Sports Professional and Sport Science Committee of the Hungarian Olympic Committee. |
